Yum sometimes needs to cleanup old transactions.  I found that yum-complete-transaction will do this.  However, this program is not always installed.  To install it, run “yum install yum-utils” and it will be added to the Linux system.

Be careful, however, do not run yum-complete-transaction by itself or you run the risk of deleting all important system files.   Run this command:

yum-complete-transaction –cleanup-only
